Since the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776 the U.S.A. has been a monoculture, a near-miracle of assimilation. ?In just 241 years we have accomplished more than other nations have after millennia.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n From the early inventions of the cotton gin and electric light bulb to landing humans on the moon and creating the Internet in the 20th C., the U.S.A.’s record of innovation and progress is remarkable by any measure. Why would we want to tinker with this formula? As the old Southern saying goes, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n Our country has no history and record of success as a multicultural society, one in which two or more cultures exist.
